My biggest question about this whole triplet thing is how am I ever going to be able to eat enough? I haven't felt well enough 95% of the time yet to eat very normally, let alone the recommended 4,000 calories a day I need. Luckily, yesterday I started getting hungry, so maybe the tide is shifting and I will be an eating machine soon.
Here is a sample menu from my triplet book of what an average day should look like:
BREAKFAST -
2 eggs
1 oz. Canadian bacon
3 slices whole wheat toast
1.5 oz. Cheddar cheese
1 banana
MID MORNING SNACK -
2 slices whole wheat toast
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1 oz. cheese
1 apple
1.5 cups of milk
LUNCH -
2 oz. tuna
1/2 oz. Swiss cheese
2 slices toasted rye bread
1 lettuce and tomato salad
1/2 cup potato salad
1 cup ice cream
1.5 cups of milk
1 orange
MID AFTERNOON SNACK -
8 Ritz crackers
1 oz. liver pate
1/2 cup grapes
DINNER -
5 oz. steak
1 baked potato
2 tablespoons sour cream
1 Caesar salad
1 dinner roll
1 cup milk
1 cup tapioca pudding
1/2 cup strawberries
AFTER DINNER -
1 cup ice cream
BEDTIME SNACK -
3/4 cup cereal
1 cup milk
1/2 cup fruit.
So, if you need me over the next several months, I will be eating or napping. Personally, I think this even puts the "Me So Hungry" platter to shame.
